Disruptive Physicians
Coaching for Physicians Who Are Labeled as "Difficult," "Angry," or "Unprofessional"
"Disruptive" is often code. For burned out. For betrayed. For boundary-setting. For someone who still remembers that medicine is supposed to mean something.
— Patrick Darnley Hudson, MD, FACS, BCC
What This Page Is About
Not everyone called "disruptive" is dangerous. Some are simply doctors under pressure—trying to lead, speak up, or hold the line in a system that punishes dissent. If you've been labeled disruptive, accused of unprofessionalism, or placed under behavior monitoring, this page is for you.
I offer physician-to-physician coaching for doctors in difficulty—especially those navigating remediation, legal oversight, board complaints, or organizational politics. Whether you're angry, misunderstood, or truly out of alignment, we can work through it—together.
Coaching for the "Labeled" Doctor
When a physician gets labeled "disruptive," it's often the beginning of a formal remediation process:
- Mandatory coaching or anger management
- Communication skills evaluation
- Professionalism monitoring or remediation
- Credentialing reviews or board complaints
- Peer review or anonymous staff feedback
I provide formal, structured coaching that meets the documentation needs of hospital committees, CMO/CNO requests, medical boards, or attorneys—while also addressing the very real human pain underneath.
You don't need to be "fixed." You need to be heard, helped, and held accountable with respect.
Who I Work With
I coach physicians across the country and internationally. My clients include:
- Surgeons, intensivists, ED physicians, and OBs
- Internists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and proceduralists
- Academic faculty, private practice partners, and trainees
- Physicians under formal review, board complaints, or workplace surveillance
Some are burned out. Some are angry. Some are brilliant but unfiltered. Some are struggling with power, ego, or authority. All are human.
How It Works
Every coaching plan is customized but may include:
- 8–12 structured sessions over 3–6 months, followed by ad hoc sessions
- Emotional intelligence and communication frameworks
- Anger management (as needed)
- Reports for credentialing or legal compliance (on request)
- Personal exploration of values, leadership, and stress
- Optional 360-feedback from peers and team members
- Optional collaboration with HR, risk, or legal teams
I can work directly with your institution, attorney, or credentialing body—or privately on your terms.
Why It Works
Because I'm not here to manage your image—I'm here to help you make meaning out of this moment.
- I've spent decades as a surgeon. I know the culture.
- I've led IRBs, chaired departments, and fought battles you're probably fighting.
- I'm board-certified in coaching, anger management, and ethics.
- I don't flinch when you tell the truth.
This isn't therapy. It's not compliance theater. It's coaching: done right, by a peer who knows what it's like to walk into an OR after a night of rage and regret.
If You're a Hospital Leader
You may be here because you need to refer a physician for mandated coaching, disruptive behavior support, or behavioral remediation. I work with CMOs, CNOs, Risk, HR, and attorneys to:
- Offer discreet, structured coaching for physicians in difficulty
- Provide documented, standards-based reporting
- Address underlying issues while reducing institutional risk
- Ensure the physician is treated with dignity, professionalism, and accountability
I'm not here to make it disappear. I'm here to make it better.
Let's Talk
If you're a physician who's been labeled—or a leader looking to support one—reach out. I'll respond personally. No judgment. Just real talk and next steps.
